This 2-day course prepares knowledgeable and experienced Disaster Services workers to teach basic level disaster training courses, ensuring uniform and quality training consistent with Red Cross policies and Disaster Services regulations and procedures.

      The purpose of this 2-day course is to prepare Red Cross volunteers and employees to establish, operate, monitor and       close a service delivery site and meet the needs of disaster clients in a timely and cost-effective manner.

The purpose of this 2-day course is to provide new supervisors with the knowledge and skills to competently perform their roles and responsibilities to function effectively as Disaster Services supervisors.  Familiarity with the ARC 3000 series, Disaster Operations Management (ARC 3015) is recommended.

EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS RESPONSE VEHICLE (ECRV) – application required

This four-day course is designed to present information and direction to implement Disaster Relief Operation Automation using the Emergency Communications Response Vehicle (ECRV).  When properly configured, the ECRV is able to provide satellite data, voice, internet access, email, and fax quickly after arriving at a disaster operation.  The training will include the extensive terrestrial communications capability of the ECRV.  Custodial agreements and chapter care of the vehicle are also covered extensively.  This course will be cancelled if the ECRV is required on disaster assignment. Participant selection will be based on the candidates who are capable of meeting all the requirements and can demonstrate an ability to deploy for 14 days during the month they are on call.

            PREREQUISITES:

·     Course size is limited to 10

·     Must be on call one month per year and deploy a minimum of 14 days during that month

·     Must be endorsed by their home chapter

·     Must be comfortable in the daily operation of computers

·     Current First Aid/CPR certification

·     Enrolled in and remain in good standing in the national Disaster Services Human Resources (DSHR) system

COLLABORATING TO ENSURE EFFECTIVE SERVICE DELIVERY (ARC 3089-4)

The purpose of this 2-day course is to prepare Red Cross employees and volunteers to establish collaborative relationships to coordinate disaster response and help to ensure effective service delivery.  Prepares participants to begin conducting liaison activities in a chapter and establish a foundation to build towards a career as a liaison in  the Disaster Services Human Resources (DSHR) System.

DISASTER FUNDRAISING: PREPARING AND RESPONDING IN CHAPTERS (ARC 3074-3)

      The purpose of this course is to prepare chapter leadership, staff and volunteer fundraisers, to execute disaster fundraising campaigns in response to disasters within their jurisdiction, and during national disasters.  The primary focus will be on the management of disaster fundraising at chapters for Level I – III relief operations

DISASTER KITCHEN TRAINING (ARC 3068-30)                                                                                                                                                             

The purpose of this 2-day course is to prepare Red Cross and partner agency staff to work at a kitchen site and prepare large numbers of meals for those affected by a disaster.  Activities include preparing the food in the kitchen, working in the yard/supply area and mobile feeding area, if needed.

The purpose of this 1-day course is to prepare Red Cross volunteers and employees assigned to government and emergency settings to work collaboratively with Red Cross partners, helping to ensure a coordinated response resulting in effective service delivery.

The purpose of this 1-day course is to prepare Red Cross workers to safely and effectively operate an emergency response vehicle (ERV) and use equipment to meet feeding and service needs of the people affected by disaster. 

      PREREQUISITES:  

·         Valid driver’s license

·         Must bring a copy of Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) Report from Secretary of State office

·         Must bring a copy of Defensive Driving Course Completion Certificate

·         Must bring a copy of Introduction to Disaster Services (ARC 3066) Card                      

·         Must bring a copy of Mass Care: An Overview or Community Service Overview (ARC 3068-6) Card

FINANCIAL & STATISTICAL INFORMATION MANAGEMENT (ARC 3078-2)

The purpose of this 1-day course is to prepare Red Cross volunteers and employees to perform the tasks of a Financial & Statistical Information Management (FSI) service associate on a disaster relief operation. 

      PREREQUISITE:  ● Introduction to Disaster Services (ARC 3066)

·         Client Casework: Providing Emergency Assistance (ARC 3072-1)

·         Recommend: Participants will benefit from Individual Client Services casework experience issuing Disbursing Orders and Client Assistance Cards.

 

FOUNDATION OF DISASTER MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES (ARC 3077-4) Attach a copy of State License with registration form.

This 1-day course prepares licensed mental health professionals to provide for and respond to the psychological needs of people across the continuum of disaster preparedness, response and recovery. 

      PREREQUISITES:

The purpose of this ½ day course is to introduce the critical role of Disaster Assessment, explore related preparedness tasks, learn how to collect and communicate disaster assessment information, and become familiar with how disaster assessment information supports management and service delivery decisions.  The online component must be completed prior to class in LMS.  The component number is DSIMS200C.
