When you volunteer with the Red Cross,
you’re in good company!
Nearly 1.5 million people give their time and energy to the American
Red Cross. Our services are made possible thanks to the volunteer
spirit and generosity of the American people. The American Red Cross
is committed to promoting diversity in its corps of volunteer and
paid staff members, and reflecting the diversity of the clients it
serves.
Volunteer Requirements
Background Checks: The
American Red Cross has the utmost respect and highest regard for its
volunteers, and recognizes its responsibility to protect its
volunteers, employees and clients in all circumstances. To help
ensure the safest possible environment for all concerned, all
volunteers and employees must complete and pass a criminal background
check. To find out more please check out the
Frequently Asked
Questions.
Training: We can match you with just the right job and
provide any necessary training. Red Cross volunteer positions
require various amounts of training and/or certification. For
example, a new Disaster Services volunteer must complete minimum
training requirements before that volunteer can participate in a
Disaster Relief operation. Red Cross provides all required volunteer
training, including CPR and First Aid, at no charge to the
volunteer. Ask your Volunteer Orientation leader for details on the
training needed for the volunteer positions you are interested in
exploring.
